About Us

Flying Box Aerotech designs, builds and flies heavy-payload cargo aircraft for the low-altitude economy. R&D started in 2016. Two businesses that need each other: we manufacture heavy-payload intelligent UAVs, and we run commercial low-altitude logistics with them.

Building the aircraft without flying it commercially would mean learning about the aircraft from other people’s complaints.

Our mission

To move the freight that neither a truck nor an airport can move economically — 200 to 500 kg, a few hundred kilometres, off a patch of flat ground.

Our vision

Fuel-powered heavy-lift VTOL as ordinary infrastructure: a filed airport, an approved route, and an aircraft that shows up whatever the ferry is doing.

Our Origin

Flying Box Aerotech was born out of Shenzhen’s aviation ecosystem, in collaboration with the Shenzhen Aviation Association. We chose proven, fuel-based propulsion over eVTOL because energy density is the whole problem at this payload — a battery pack able to fly 500 km is a pack too heavy to carry anything.

That choice narrows the company on purpose. It also means the aircraft works today, in agriculture, emergency response and logistics, rather than in a press release about 2032.

Innovation

We inherited the tandem-rotor layout rather than inventing one, and rebuilt everything behind it for autonomous flight. The interesting work is usually not the part you can patent a shape for.

Trust

We publish what holds across missions and say plainly what does not. Where a figure depends on the route, we tell you that instead of picking the flattering end of the range.

Sustainability

Gasoline today, diesel from 2028, hydrogen after that. Dates, not aspirations.

Impact

Islands, mountain farms, mines and disaster zones — places where the transport problem is somebody’s whole day, not a rounding error.

Safety

Redundant flight control, and certification work that started years before it had to because the people running it came out of civil aviation airworthiness management rather than into it.

The company, factually

Core technology — propulsion, intelligent flight control, heavy-payload structural design and mission-payload integration — is held outright rather than licensed. The head office is in the Low-Altitude Economy Industrial Center, Bao’an District, Shenzhen; the R&D and production base is at Zhongshan Fusha.

Thirty years in aviation, split between UAV development and civil aviation airworthiness management. The second half is the unusual part — it is why certification work here starts early instead of arriving as a surprise late.

Global vice president and Asia Pacific managing director at an American company, responsible for regional operations and its M&A projects. The recurring work there was restructuring — deciding what a business should look like and then rebuilding the team to match. Runs the commercial side and the international programme.

Behind them: twelve years of aircraft engine design on propulsion, eight years of civil and general aviation on airspace approvals, ten years of trunk logistics on the commercial side, and an advisory board of airworthiness specialists and logistics operators. Fifteen people today, thirty-five planned inside twelve months.

Payload, endurance and configuration all move depending on what you are flying and where, so the useful conversation starts with the route rather than the brochure.
